Nagoya is the capital of Aichi Prefecture and Japan's third-biggest metropolitan area. Besides contemporary matters, the Nagoya area is famous as a historical place. Nagoya is home to Japan's second most revered shrine, the Great Shrine of Atsuta established about 1,900 years ago. Nagoya area was also a battlefield with three famous warlords in the 16th century, Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Nagoya castle, topped with Nagoya's iconic two-meter tall glittering gold tiger-fish roof ornaments, is a must for first-time visitors because it is considered to be one of the top three castles. As a part of its 400th anniversary, Honmaru Goten Palace of the Nagoya Castle, which served as the official residence and administrative offices, was authentically restored and is now open to the public since 2018. You can see the gorgeous palace and its interior, which was recognized as a masterpiece of Edo period (1603-1867).

Nihon Fukushi University (NFU) was established in 1953 and is the first social welfare university in Japan. It is a leading University in the social welfare field in Japan, has fostered the most number of social workers, and was also designated as the Center of Excellence in the Asian Region by the Ministry of Educational.

NFU is a middle-sized University with about 13,000 students, including nearly 7,000 students who study online. It is actively using various media and ICT, including the administration of a virtual campus, a campus SNS, and so on. NFU now has eight faculties in three campuses near Nagoya. Tokai campus, the venue of the conference, is the newest campus which opened in 2015.
