ICBL 2026 x ETHE Workshop - From Research to Publication: How to Successfully Publish in High-Impact Academic Journals

Time: 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm, July 28, 2026
Venue: Room 112, Graduate School of Education, Peking University

Publishing in high-impact academic journals is one of the most demanding milestones in a researcher's career. This workshop provides PhD candidates and early-career researchers with a practical, end-to-end roadmap for navigating the academic publishing process with confidence.

Drawing on the experience of editors and researchers from the International Journal of Educational Technology in Higher Education (ETHE), the session covers the full publication journey: from understanding what makes research publishable and how to structure a compelling academic article, to selecting the right journal, managing the peer review process, and maximising the visibility and reach of published work.

The key topics included on the workshop are: the defining characteristics of high-impact journals and ranking systems (quartiles, JCR, Scopus, SJR); international standards for article structure and academic writing; strategies for journal selection and scope alignment; navigating peer review, including how to respond to reviewers and handle rejection; research ethics (plagiarism, self-plagiarism, transparent use of AI); and academic dissemination and networking through social media and scholarly platforms.

This session is designed for PhD candidates, young researchers, and academics looking to strengthen their publishing strategy and increase the international reach and impact of their research.
